I created a new user in an AD and wanted to add them to a local security group Offer Remote Assistance Helpers. When adding this group manually, it disappeared after reboot (after applying gpupdate /force
).
What I didn’t know is that this group pops into existence automatically after a GPO is configured:
- Computer Configuration
- Administrative Templates
- System
- Remote Assistance
- System
- Administrative Templates
Here the GPO Offer Remote Assistance needs to be configured. You need to add entitled helpers via the options.
Afterwards the security group will be created and the helpers added to the members list.
